Ateneo, Le Cordon Bleu Partner Up for New Institute for Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism Management

Students of the Ateneo de Manila University will soon be able to take up hotel and restaurant entrepreneurship courses from the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu, as Ateneo president Fr. Jose Ramon Villarin and Le Cordon Bleu International B.V. director and president André Cointreau signed an agreement earlier this month to establish the Ateneo-Le Cordon Bleu Institute.

According to Ateneo, the partnership is the university’s response “to a strong national demand from the country’s burgeoning tourism industry amidst promising economic development.”

Programs in hospitality management will be launched in Ateneo’s campuses in Loyola Heights, Quezon City and Rockwell, Makati City.

Through the partnership, the Philippines will be one of more than 20 countries in which Le Cordon Bleu is present. The latter has “over 100 years of teaching experience”, according to Ateneo. Courses “in gastronomy, hospitality, and tourism from initiation to MBA level” are offered by the institution which currently has 53 schools catering for some 20,000 students of 70 nationalities every year.
