Hotels In Brasov, Romania’s Second Largest Tourism Destination, Make Only EUR 42 Mln A Year

The five largest hotel companies in Brasov, Romania’s second touristic pol after Bucharest and the country’s main winter destination, last year had cumulated revenues of EUR 16.7 million, half of the revenues of the largest five star hotel in Bucharest, according to an analysis by local Ziarul Financiar.

Brasov gets some 900,000 tourists every year, but its 190 hotel companies had revenues of only EUR 42 million last year, about as much as two or three large hotels in Bucharest, which shows the poor state of tourism in Romania.

The largest hotel company in Brasov is Alpin 2003, which controls the Alpin Resort Hotel four-star complex in Poiana Brasov and an apart-hotel. The company had EUR 6.8 million in sales in 2013, 7% higher than in 2012.
