Sunderland residents who want to help celebrate their city’s style icons are going to be able to do just that – from the comfort of their own home.

Tonight (Fri Sept 26), Sun FM will be keeping their audience in the loop by broadcasting live from the Style Award’s red carpet between 7pm and 10pm.

This year’s ceremony, taking place at Sunderland’s Best Western Roker Hotel, will see a star-studded audience enjoying a celebration of the city’s great and good, hosted by TV presenter, Terry Christian and with live performances by Alexander O’Neal and The Pierces.

“These awards offer us a great chance to celebrate Sunderland as a city,” said Julian Carter, Managing Director of Sun FM.

“And we know it’s impossible for everyone to be at the actual event but we’re ensuring that everyone can be a part of it as we’ll keep our listeners in tune with all the action from the red carpet and across the night.”

The awards give the public the chance to nominate individuals, businesses and organisations for a wide range of categories including yummiest mummy, up and coming business, most stylish home and leading visitor attraction.

The event is being sponsored by See It Do It Sunderland with individual categories sponsored by Sunderland Coffee Bar, Benfield, Alex Smiles, Wearside Plumbing and Asiana Fusion Restaurant, among others.

Helping the evening go with a swing will be DJ Stacie Stewart and a fashion show to launch the ceremony in style, before the winners are announced.
