Middle East: Rewarding Hospitality

The Grand Hyatt, Dubai, was pronounced both the hotel with the Best Conference and Banquet Facility and the Best Recreational Facility at the Middle East Hotel Awards 2014, which took place on June 5 at Atlantis The Palm, Dubai. The Hyatt Capital Gate, Abu Dhabi, was also named the Best Business/City Hotel at the ceremony.

More than 30 hotels and suppliers were shortlisted for prizes in 18 categories with brands such as Dusit, Hyatt, Armani, Jumeirah, Rotana, Hilton, Conrad, Premier Inn, Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria and many others across the Middle East vying for awards that covered the hospitality sector in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Jordan and Kuwait.

Meelis Kuuskler, Chairman of the Judges, said: “The hospitality industry in the Middle East is becoming an incredible benchmark when it comes to luxury travel and the level of this year’s entries confirms the commitment of key industry players in meeting the expectation of their demanding global clients.”

Other notable winners included: Banyan Tree Al Wadi, which scooped the Best Resort and Best Community Engagement awards; Jumeirah Creekside Hotel Dubai for the Best Lobby; and the Conrad Dubai which received the Best New Hotel award.

Atlantis The Palm, Dubai, also emerged as the winner in two categories, bagging the Best Hotel Suite award and the Best Restaurant prize for its culinary highlight, Ossiania. Also winning twice was Sofitel The Palm, Dubai, which took home the Best Environmental Innovation and Best Use of Innovative Technology awards.

Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi collected the Best Hotel Apartment award, while Premier Inn scooped the Best Budget Hotel accolade and Hotel 72 by Hues was adjudged the Best Boutique Hotel. The overall Best Middle East Hotel 2014 award went to Burj Al Arab.
