Tickets are on sale for the Jan. 4, 2015, premiere party and VIP reception for the fifth season of “Downton Abbey” at the Paramount Theater.

Public television station WVPT and the Paramount will present the VIP reception at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 4, followed by the screening of the season premiere at 9 p.m.

Costumes and period attire are encouraged.

Richard Guy Wilson, Commonwealth Professor and chair of the Department of Architectural History at the University of Virginia, will be the evening’s featured speaker.

The VIP reception is $50 and includes wine, drinks, heavy hors d’oeuvres and Wilson’s presentation; the screening itself is free. For details, visit www.theparamount.net or call 979-1333.
