The number of job positions available in the hospitality sector has risen 14% since last year, job search site Indeed can reveal.

According to Indeed’s national employment data, the number of job openings for roles including house keeper, travel advisor, and chef rose by over 10,000 compared to the same time last year and over 1,000 on the previous month.

Meanwhile, the number of people actively looking for careers in this industry has increased 7% since 2014, suggesting jobseekers are starting to realise the potential within this market. Jobs growth across the hospitality and tourism sector comes as the industry prepares for another summer boom across hotels, restaurants and bars. Inbound tourism body VisitBritain predicts that the industry will grow by an extra £1 billion in tourist spend this year.

This follows a record year in 2014, which saw inbound visits rise by 2 million to 34.8 million on the previous year, while overseas visitors spent £21.7 billion – up 3% on 2013.

With the Rugby World Cup set to kick off at 13 venues across England and in Cardiff September 18th to October 31st, the hospitality boom looks set to continue way into the autumn. With up to 466,000 visits expected across the duration of the tournament, international visitors are expected to contribute up to £869 million in direct expenditure, according to EY.

Jobseekers across the nation should keep an eye out for openings across roles within hotels, bars, restaurants and tourist attractions.
