The developers of a huge new tourism and gaming complex at Seoul’s Incheon International Airport have confirmed the name and details of the resort.

In April this year, US-based Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority (MTGA) signed a deal with Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) to develop, build and operate a “gateway entertainment city” in the grounds of South Korea’s largest airport. And it has now been confirmed that this vast complex will be known as the Inspire Integrated Resort, or Inspire for short.

“We are pleased to progress to the next stage of our proposed partnership with IIAC by finalising a conceptual agreement on Inspire,” said Bobby Soper, president of MTGA. “We are excited to extend the unique Mohegan Sun brand with the support and collaboration of IIAC as we work to develop a must-visit destination. We also look forward to playing a meaningful role in contributing to Korea’s dynamic economy.”

The complex, which will be created on a 3.2km² plot of land owned by IIAC, will include a twin tower luxury hotel complex with 1,000 rooms, 18,500m² of retail, F&B and entertainment space, including a “Korean village” area, a film studio, a 20,000-pax capacity entertainment arena, sports arena, a 18,500m² theme park with 12 outdoor attractions and an 18,500m² casino. It will also be connected to a new private jet terminal, making it the only integrated resort in the world to feature its own air strip.

The first phase of Inspire is expected to contribute US$1.6 billion in Foreign Direct Investment to South Korea and create approximately 24,000 jobs.
