Indian hotel firm to open first London property

Indian hotel group Lalit will open its first international property in London during 2016.

Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, which currently has 11 hotels in India, will open a 70-room property in a former Grade II-listed former grammar school close to Tower Bridge in London’s South Bank area.4

The building, which has previously been used as St Olave’s Grammar School and Lambeth College, is currently being redeveloped with the Lalit London due to open towards the end of next year.

Grand Hotel and Investments Group is redeveloping and renovating the late-19th century building to create a boutique hotel with restaurant, bar, spa facilities and event space.

The former headmasters room will be turned into one of the hotel’s suites as part of the project, while the Great Hall will be transformed into a restaurant and events space.
