Hotel uniforms get revamped for Millennials

Uniforms-JW-Marriott-Grand-Rapids-1Ninety-three percent of millennials say they want a job where they can be themselves at work and that includes dressing in a way that makes them comfortable and stylish. More hotels are revamping staff uniforms strictly to cater to young, millennial travelers. Here are some examples of hotels stylistically thinking outside of the norm.

New uniforms per guest feedback

Based off feedback from young millennial travelers, the gentleman at the JW Marriott Grand Rapids debuted fashionable suits with colored pocket squares that are sleek to match the interior of the downtown hotel. The upgrade was an initiative that AHC+Hospitality conceptualized based on the feedback that millennials are more casual. The new uniforms were designed to reflect the sophisticated yet unpretentious nature of the hotel, creating a polished look.

Looking to NYC for inspiration

Hilton West Palm Beach traveled to Manhattan to pull inspiration from sleek NYC bars to develop looks that would speak to trendy millennials, while channeling the popular “Palm Beach Chic” look. Valet staff will wear all black Shell Top Adidas, known as Superstars, bartenders will flaunt leather vests and baristas will wear trendy flat caps – even housekeeping said that they are excited to wear non-traditional hospitality uniforms.

Hotel Indigo Doorman (winter)

The whole team gets trendy

Hotel Indigo New York – Lower East Side partnered with TopHat and together they designed fashionable and trendy uniforms for every member of staff, ranging from afternoon baristas to engineers. Inspired by the local flavor, neighborhood and artwork in the property’s common spaces, the hotel staff uniforms aim to mirror the sophisticated yet unpretentious nature of the hotel.

South Beach style

Talent at the W South Beach WET deck have recently revamped their look to embrace the signature sex-appeal of South Beach by sporting an exclusive collection of designer sunnies by Garrett Leight. Taking a cue from millennial fashion trends and mixing luxury with more accessible brands, the ladies of the pool deck will also rock uniforms designed by local Miami brand Wet & Sea while the gentlemen don WET-branded New Era caps.
