Baar (CH)/Ras al Khaimah (UAE)/Nairobi (Kenya) — Swiss International and Mount Kenya Holiday Homes LTD are announcing their commitment to co-develop an overall resort with a total of 299 Villas, apartments, townhouses and an all-suite hotel resort at the vicinity of Nanyuki and the Mount Kenya National Park, next to Mount Kenya. Mount Kenya Holiday Homes LTD has signed an MOU with Swiss International Hotels & Resorts in Nairobi, Kenya on Feb 27.

Mt Kenya Holiday Homes is under construction on the scenic foothills of Mount Kenya, at Naro Moru. With the Nanyuki airstrip only 15 minutes’ drive from the property, this is the perfect location for home owners wishing to have a home away from home, destination weddings, conferences, team building and outdoor events.

The conserved natural-forest area within the development hosts wildlife including zebra, impala, Thomson gazelles, dik-dik, ostrich as well as over 100 bird species. The executive golf course is ready and will be opened soon. The development embarked on its second phase, after the first phase of villas sold out. Currently, construction and sale to prospective buyers is ongoing.

In the recently signed deal, Swiss International Hotels & Resorts and Mount Kenya Holiday Homes LTD will jointly develop Swiss International Mount Kenya Resort, the first Swiss International facility in Kenya.

Speaking during the MOU-signing ceremony, Ronald Ndegwa, the developer, said that it was indeed an achievement to have Swiss International on board as this will guarantee the highest standards once the resort starts operating next year. Holiday home owners will benefit greatly from high rental income.

Mr. Henri W.R. Kennedie, Chairman and CEO of Swiss International commented: “Swiss International is fully committed to hotel expansion in Africa. Mr. Ndegwa approached us via IAF East Africa to assist him in the co-development of this amazing resort. Obviously we were thrilled with the invitation and we shall share all our knowledge to make this a destination resort of exceptional class.”

IAF (East Africa) – the transaction and investment advisors, noted that Swiss International was selected as the preferred partner, over other international competitors, due to their service excellence and quality of their facilities globally. Mount Kenya Holiday Homes LTD will make the Villas, Apartments and Townhouses available for individual ownership, whereby the future owners are being offered to also put their properties available for rent through the Swiss International Mount Kenya Rental Pool. Swiss International will operate the entire Resort and will be the partner in the rental pool.

The arrival of Swiss International in Kenya earmarks Swiss International’s commitment to Africa. The chain is already represented in Nigeria with 2 hotels, in Rwanda with 1 hotel and in Sierra Leone with one hotel. Kenya is the 5th property for Swiss International to be represented in Africa.
