Four Seasons Hotels And Resorts Enter Korea

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts enters Korea with Four Seasons Hotel Seoul. The property is currently under construction and is projected to open in May 2015. The announcement was made in partnership with Mirae Asset Global Investments, a real estate investment group in Korea.

The new hotel will include a 25-story building with seven levels of underground floors in a 4,117 sq mtr site in the centrally located Sejongro Square. Four Seasons Hotel Seoul will offer 317 guest rooms, top quality restaurants, meeting rooms, and a state-of-the-art fitness centre. Internationally renowned interior designers including LTW, AvroKO and AFSO are finalising designs, and local architect Heerim, local interior designers Kesson, and general contractor Daelim Industrial will bring their local expertise to the project. Guest rooms will target international executives travelling to Korea, and food and beverage outlets will target mainly business demand from domestic and international firms in Korea.

“Despite its rapidly developing economy, supply of luxury hotels in Korea has been limited. Recognising the vast potential in this market, we have been exploring growth opportunities here for many years,” commented Chris Hart, President Hotel Operations, Asia Pacific, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. “We are confident that Four Seasons Hotel Seoul will change the face of luxury hospitality in Korea.”

Sang-Kee Jeong, Vice Chairman, Mirae Asset Global Investments said, “As the first top-tier luxury branded hotel in Korea, the superior product and services of Four Seasons will elevate the hospitality market in Korea and attract a new segment of global luxury travellers. We anticipate that the introduction of Four Seasons will be a catalyst for the Korean luxury market. Mirae Asset Financial Group is pioneering investment in hospitality as part of its commercial real estate portfolio, and partnership with this prestigious international brand will reap rewards for everyone, including the city of Seoul and Korea.”

I think it is a very great idea to open Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in Korea, as they have a new opportunity to welcome more high-class guests. The reason I am glad to hear about the opening is because it is also a possibility for students to have internships in Korea‘s Four Seasons.

As mentioned in the article, the market for luxury hotels in Korea is still undeveloped. Hence I feel that, Four Seasons in Korea will be a lead for other luxury hotel brands who are targeting the market in Korea too. Personally, I think this project will be successful as there are more and more tourists who flood into Korea due to the influence of Korean Pop Music and idols.
Therefore, I look forward to the opening of Four Season Hotel in Seoul in May 2015
