Marriott Hotels gets on Apple Watch

WifiMarriott International has expanded its digital travel services through its mobile app partnership with Apple Watch.

Members of the Marriott Rewards programme who have purchased the Apple Watch will now be able to access Marriott’s mobile app for check-in and checkout. They will also receive an automatic receipt of room ready alerts, booking and review of reservations and detailed directions to the hotel.

George Corbin, senior vice president, Marriott Digital, said this is part of Marriott’s aggressive efforts to create a complete mobile-powered travel experience. He added that putting the brand’s mobile services on the hottest new wearable is an important step in putting the guest in total control.

These initiatives come as the hotel chain sees a 50% increase in guest using their mobile to visit Marriott.com. Corbin added that offering innovative mobile and digital solutions is central to Marriott’s commitment to helping its guests maximise all aspects of their travel experience.

“The future of mobile and digital technology is unlimited and plays an important role as travel becomes more open and accessible across the globe. Marriott will continue to collaborate with the best technology companies to create a world class guest experience that is enriching, easy and fun,” he said.

The hotel chain is also one of the the first in the hospitality business to offer mobile check-in and checkout across its full portfolio of hotels. It is also the first hospitality company to accept Apple Pay at its signature brands such as The Ritz-Carlton, EDITION, Renaissance Hotels and Marriott Hotels.

Marriott Hotels, the company’s flagship brand, is currently also testing new mobile services that will enable guests to review their rooms in real time and make service requests before and during their stay. The hotel is also in the midst of piloting keyless entry at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel. Later this year, it plans to start testing a new “Connect My Device” in-room entertainment platform.

    It is great
to see in the article after reading the article that Marriott have the latest Apple
technology for their members of Marriott Rewards programme. Well, it is true
that future of mobile and technology is unlimited and helps in the hospitality
industry. This is for only those who are having the apple watch. In my opinion,
I would say that the Marriott should give either the apple or any other handheld
device for all the members of their rewards programme whenever they visit the
hotel. It will help them for using all the hotel facilities, finding the
    locations and many other things.

Marriott led the hotel industry when it began launching mobile check-in and check-out on its smartphone app. With the app, guests can now access these services in hotels worldwide, in addition to finding and booking a hotel stay and accessing Marriott Rewards account information. At select Marriott Hotels, guests have been testing an app for service requests, enabling them to chat in real time with hotel staff to make requests, such as extra towels, valet service, dinner reservations and more, Marriott will launch an app for the Apple Watch, upon availability. With the Apple Watch app, Marriott Rewards members will be able to use it to check-in in advance, receive prior notification when their room is ready.
