The Cape, a Thompson Hotel, Debuts in Los Cabos

The 161-room Cape, a Thompson Hotel, is now open in Los Cabos on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. The Cabo San Lucas property, Thompson’s first in the country, combines the brand’s hip urban aesthetic with a retro 1960s Southern California-meets-Baja vibe, according to Thompson.

The resort is on Monuments Beach and offers views of the Los Cabos Arch. Among the resort’s amenities are an infinity pool with a swim-up bar and  a saltwater pool built into a natural rock formation; a rooftop lounge; a spa with two private outdoor cabanas; a fitness center overlooking the Sea of Cortez, and several food-and-beverage outlets.

Famed Mexican chef Enrique Olvera is at the helm of the 114-seat restaurant, Manta, and had a hand in developing d24157_0_thecape_fsa-xlishes for the other on-site F&B outlets. The menu combines Mexican cuisine with Japanese and Peruvian influences, among others, and offers a terrace as well as ocean views from all indoor tables.

The other refreshment options on-site include Look, a glass-walled lounge with 360-degree views, which is available for private events; the Roof Top, a 24-hour open-air lounge with a communal seating area and a fire pit; the Ledge, a casual breakfast and lunch spot, and the Lobby Lounge, with sunken communal seating and a retro Mexican beach-bar ambience.

Several meeting rooms are available, including Glimpse, which is adjacent to the Roof Top, and the A-Frame boardroom on the first floor.
