JACDEC ranks world’s safest airlines

The Jet Airline Crash Data Evaluation Centre (JACDEC) has created a list of which airlines it considers the safest in the world.

The airlines were named in the centre’s annual airline safety ranking, which takes into account factors such as hull loss accidents, passenger data for the past three decades, accident-free years and serious incidents.

However the ranking is limited to larger airlines, meaning regional airlines were excluded.

Cathay Pacific was named the world’s safest airline in the ranking, for the second year in a row.

The airline was also named in AirlineRatings.com’s list of the world’s safest airlines. However AirlineRatings.com named Qantas the world’s safest airline.

In the JACDEC ranking, Emirates took second place while Taiwan’s EVA Air took third place.

Several airlines appeared both in the JACDEC ranking and the AirlineRatings.com list, such as EVA Air, Air New Zealand, KLM and Lufthansa, among others.
