Singapore to Host Food & Hotel Asia, Wine, Spirits Asia

Singapore will host the 2014 essay of the Food & Hotel Asia (FHA) and Wine & Spirits Asia (WSA) between April 8 and 11. This year, the events would cover an area of over 1,00,000sqm, which is an eight per cent increase in size from 2012.

Lindy Wee, director, public relations and conferences, Singapore Exhibition Services Pvt Ltd (the organisers), said that about 2,800 exhibitors from 70 countries/regions would showcase their offerings at FHA, which would have 54 group pavilions.

On a recent visit to New Delhi, she stated that the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) had booked three pavilions at the venue for Indian companies to showcase their products. The companies can register through CII.

Wee added that the offerings span across all aspects of food and beverages and the hospitality industry, including food products, bar and kitchen equipment and supplies, food processing equipment, hotel amenities, tableware and hospitality technology.

In 2012, the event witnessed 450 visitors from India. This year, the organisers expect a larger footfall from India. She added that there was a lot of scope of food trade between India and Singapore, particularly in ingredients, basmati rice, fruit and vegetables.

Wee stated that Indian traders, who have traditionally preferred to do business in the West, are now witnessing a huge opportunity in South-east Asia, adding that she expected more Indian companies to showcase their products at FHA and WSA.

The event will feature six specialised shows – Food Asia; Hotel Asia; Bakery and Pastry, Hospitality Style, Specialty Coffee and Tea and Hospitality Technology, and conferences on such topics as hotels, food service, food manufacturing, bakery, and ice cream.
